Tade made a second class upper in Mathematics  from the University of Ibadan, not being well connected- he searched for job without success. He was advised to seek a teaching job which he did. Tade was hired swiftly by a school that started him out on 30k monthly salary. His impact was immediately felt in the school as he taught so well aided with the use of the ALMIGHTY CANE !

He got the children to behave with his regular companion, the “PANKERE” (that’s the local name for the unfriendly rod), more than half of the students passed their Maths in WASSCE but there were a few who failed woefully and had become sworn enemies of the notorious Maths teacher.

One fateful day, in the cool of the evening they ambushed and beat Tade to pulp, left him and ran away, they knew he will never teach them again!

Well, Tade got another appointment during the holiday on the strength of the brilliant results he got at Iroko Comprehensive high school. It was a big leap, Tade ‘s take home now in excess of 100k monthly. He set out  promptly to impact knowledge, walking with a gait common to some cocky egghead teachers.

The double combo of teach them and beat the dullard till he or she sits up was deployed immediately- but unfortunately for him; the culture of the new school was different !
You don’t beat our children he was told sternly by the HOD Maths! If they don’t learn the way you teach, you must teach the way they learn! Stranger than fiction to Tade !

HOW THEN DO YOU EVER GET THEM TO LISTEN AND LEARN IF YOU DON’T BEAT? Tade asked.

“WELL WE ALL THOUGHT IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE UNTIL WE LEARNT BETTER THROUGH TRAINING”. The HOD replied.

The HOD recommended this newbie teacher for some training and mentorship, where I took him and others through our “Supportive Discipline Strategies” and “Smart teacher, Smart Class” mentorship programs.

He was the most comical person through the training  yet at the end, he confessed to having had his paradigm of “beat to teach” totally changed .
It was as if he had just been reprogrammed for excellence. We got him started on becoming a Smart teacher working with Smart Classes.

Back in the classroom now, Tade is one of the most friendly mentor for even the most difficult learner in school. More responsibilities is being entrusted to him in the school  and he is on his way to becoming an outstanding teacher among peers.
He keeps singing the praises of Three Dimension Edibiz & Ássociates for showing him the rudiments of 21st Century teaching skills, best classroom management practices and above all how to become a supportive discipline strategy practitioner in the classroom deploying proven alternative discipline methods which has  given him real influence with the learners to mentor them positively.
